Kitty Hawk appears immediately upon getting to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The Wright Brothers National Monument was our first stop.

After Kitty Hawk we drove further down the Outer Banks, past Nags Head, past the National Seashore and Wildlife Refuge to the northern end of Hatteras Island. We never did visit Cape Hatteras!
